US 2019 assistance to Jordan consistent with last year’s, says embassy

Amman, “This year’s (2019) assistance to Jordan is consistent with last year’s assistance. The Jordanian and U.S. governments are finalizing the details of the 2019 cash transfer”, the US embassy in Amman said in a statement on Wednesday.

This is part of the United States’ rock-solid commitment to Jordan, as shown in the February 2018 memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Jordan, which promised a minimum of $1.275 billion per year in bilateral foreign assistance over a five-year period for a total of $6.375 billion, the statement added.

It noted: “For nearly seven decades, the United States and Jordan have worked side-by-side to improve economic and regional stability, strengthen democratic governance, and deliver essential services to the people of this country.”
