Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed Jamaica’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine. The OIC emphasized that this crucial measure is in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. It also supported the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, which includes their right to establish an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital.
The OIC calls on all countries that have not yet done so to recognize the State of Palestine. Its statement upholds international endeavors to attain a fair and enduring peace in the region through the implementation of the two-state solution, as outlined in international agreements.
