Labor minister praises cooperation of the production process parties
Minister of Labor, Nidal Batayneh, praised the Kingdom”s production process”s parties during the Covid-19 crisis.
Speaking during a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), on Thursday, the minister said:” it is fair in such circumstances that all parties to the production process share the effects and burdens of the stage, whether the government, the employer or the worker, ” adding the government is doing all it can to develop programs for economic, social and legal protection, in cooperation with all the gov”t”s various agencies.
Based on Defense Order 6, a commuique will be issued to regulate the wages for the months of May and June, Batayneh pointed out.
Batayneh said: “We fined a number of entities that did not pay the March wages of their workers despite knowing their financial solvency, ” adding complaints received on a “Himaya, protection” platform are the only processed by the ministry.
To date, the Ministry of Labor has received 237560 worker complaints since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, most focusing on wage nonpayment , and 222,166 were resolved, or almost 94 percent, Batayneh pointed out.
On addressing the pandemic”s repercussions, he said unemployment rates will increase due to the conditions imposed by the Covid-19 crisis, adding: “Therefore, we are thinking of creative solutions such as marketing Jordanian manpower, redesigning the national framework for empowerment and employment, and implementing a policy of employing Jordanian workers to replace expatriate manpower as part of the gov”t recovery plan and in partnership with the private sector.”
