Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) yesterday signed the operation mechanism charter of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, which is affiliated with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. The event was part of the activities marking IsDB golden jubilee; it took place on the sidelines of the bank's 2024 annual meeting. The charter was signed by KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, IsDB Group President Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasser, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Co-Chair Bill Gates, and Abu Dhabi Development Fund Director General Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi. As a founding partner of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, KSrelief has contributed since its inception, in 2016, $100 million to it. The fund has helped implement several projects in line with its goal of assisting underprivileged groups in IsDB member countries by providing them with urgent humanitarian needs. The collaboration of the entities in the Lives and Livelihoods Fund has brought together distinctive experiences and capabilities that contributed to bringing about economic growth and improving living standards for needy groups in member countries. The fund has implemented 37 projects, benefiting millions of needy families, providing primary healthcare for women and children, improving infrastructure, and providing employment opportunities for small-scale farmers in 22 IsDB member countries, contributing to realizing nine of the Sustainable Development Goals.
