Amman: The Ministry of Health on Thursday launched the National Policy and Strategy for Quality and Patient Safety 2024-2030, developed in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded by the European Union (EU), to advance healthcare standards and strengthen public trust in health services. Approved by the Cabinet in February 2025, the strategy reflects the ministry’s commitment to reducing medical errors, improving patient outcomes, and achieving universal health coverage in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Health Ibrahim Bdour stated that the strategy is a significant step in the modernization of Jordan’s health sector, emphasizing the focus on citizens’ health as a national priority. The strategy was prepared through a collaborative national effort involving public, private, and charitable institutions, with technical support from WHO and EU partners.
Bdour noted that the plan aims to reinforce governance and accountability, integrate health data, build workforce capacity, and institutionalize a culture of transparency, learning, and continuous improvement. Safaa Ouran, Director of the Institutional Development and Quality Control Directorate, stated that the strategy embodies the ministry’s dedication to people-centered, equitable care. The plan’s priorities include strengthening quality systems and patient safety, improving adverse event reporting, aligning services with evidence-based standards, enhancing patient and community engagement, and adopting innovation and sustainability across the health system.
