Amman: The Environment Protection Directorate in Ma’an governorate conducted 69 environmental inspection visits during the first half of this year for various facilities and sites. This effort comes as part of the directorate’s efforts to enhance environmental oversight and ensure compliance with approved standards and requirements.

According to Jordan News Agency, in its statement Thursday, the directorate announced a total of 39 inspection visits were made for 12 diverse facilities, while monitors examined 9 sites to address ecological complaints. The inspections also extended to 4 sites for public safety purposes, 9 farms, and 5 springs.

The directorate further mentioned that it handled 30 environmental requests and conducted inspection visits to address these issues. After completing the required studies and procedures to ensure the projects’ compliance with ecological conditions and standards, environmental licenses were granted to 26 development enterprises across agricultural, industrial, craft, and public sectors.

However, three projects were rejected for non-compliance reasons, while one project was designated for a comprehensive environmental impact assessment study. On their goals, the directorate noted that these procedures aim to protect natural resources and ensure a healthy and safe environment in the governorate.
