Amman Leads Hotel Occupancy Rates in Jordan Over Weekend

Amman: Hotel occupancy rates across the Kingdom this weekend varied significantly, with Amman achieving the highest rate at 66%. The Dead Sea followed with 39%, and Petra saw a low of 6%.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hussein Hilalat, vice president and spokesperson for the Jordan Hotel Association (JHA), mentioned that current data indicates increased tourist activity in the Dead Sea area compared to previous weeks. Hilalat attributed this growth primarily to the end of the summer vacation for school students and improved weather conditions, which have contributed to heightened demand this week.

Hilalat also noted a decline in occupancy rates in the capital, Amman, compared to previous weeks. This decrease follows the conclusion of the concert season and is due to the approaching end of the summer vacation and the return of expatriates to their home countries. Meanwhile, Petra has been experiencing a noticeable decline in hotel occupancy rates during this period. This is largely due to weak tourist activity and the absence of foreign visitors, including Americans and Europeans.

Further data revealed that occupancy rates in 5-star hotels reached 74% in Amman, 51% in the Dead Sea, and 12% in Petra. For 4-star hotels, occupancy rates were 66% in Amman, 27% in the Dead Sea, and 4% in Petra. Meanwhile, 3-star hotels saw occupancy rates of 59% in Amman and just 1% in Petra.
