9 drug dealers arrested in central Amman

Amman, May 21 (Petra) — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) officers early Monday arrested 9 drug dealers in Amman, including five classified as dangerous, wanted and armed .

Following-up information on drug trafficking activities, AND agents raided several houses in Amman and arrested 9 suspects, 5 of whom are classified as dangerous and armed.

One of the drug dealers attempted to violently resist the police, but he was arrested before using his firearm, it said.

Following the crackdown, AND searched the whereabouts of the suspected dealers and seized 8 kg of synthetic cannabis (known locally as joker), 5kg of hashish, narcotic pills and a firearm.

All suspects were referred to the State Security Court prosecutor general after initial investigations, the statement added.
