Two cruise ships carrying 3,000 tourists dock in Aqaba Thursday

Aqaba, Cruise ships “Queen Mary” and “Le Lyrial” will dock in Aqaba Port on Thursday carrying 3,000 tourists, 1,055 of whom will visit the ancient city of Petra while 380 others will visit Wadi Rum.

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone took all necessary measures to facilitate the entry of the tourists into Aqaba and transfer them to various destinations including Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum.

Tourism and economic affairs commissioner at the ASEZA Sharhabeel Madi said that Aqaba Port will receive during the current tourism season more than 22 cruise ships carrying 50,000 tourists of various European nationalities who will visit the “Golden Triangle”, consisting of Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum.

Aqaba, some 330km south of Amman, usually witnesses a hike in the number of Jordanian, Arab and international visitors during April who come to the Kingdom to enjoy site-seeing, shopping and maritime activities.
