Turkish man who hit Jordanian child arrested
Amman, Turkish police on Sunday arrested a man who assaulted a Jordanian child during a dispute between children in the city of Mersin, southern Turkey.
The arrested man appeared in video circulated on social media, and caused angry reactions.
The incident began with a dispute between children playing in a residential complex in Mezitli district of Mersin. The dispute intensified as families interfered.
Scenes shot from a phone were circulated showing a resident in the compound slapping the 5-year-old child severely, knocking him down, kicking him and causing him injuries. He then pushed the child’s elder sister twice and tried to kick her out of the compound.
The man who slapped the child was arrested as per instructions of the prosecution, and formal proceedings against him are underway in the Security Department.
