Palestine welcomes Egypt’s efforts to cease hostilities in Gaza

Cairo Palestine Wednesday welcomed Egyptian efforts to cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip, in addition to its efforts to ensure a Palestinian reconciliation.

In a speech at an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting, which addressed military escalation in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Permanent Observer to the U.N., Riyad Mansour, emphasized on the necessity of reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause away from unilateral actions, calling for enforcing the international law on everyone and at all times.

Mansour called for an urgent U.N. Security Council action to stop the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression on the Palestinian people, to implement the organization’s resolutions to establish an independent Palestinian state, and to provide international protection to its people.

Israel is running a propaganda to justify its aggression on the Palestinian people, Mansour said, adding that it describes the unarmed Palestinians as terrorists merely for protecting themselves.

The U.S. has recently called for an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting to discuss the military escalation between Israel and the Palestinian factions.
