Online payments hit JD 2.119 bln till end of April-CBJ

Amman, Payments through, an online bill payment service, have reached JD2.119 billion during the first quarter of 2018, an increase of 275%, compared with JD593 mln in the same period, 2017, according to figures of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).

The CBJ’s data showed that the number of financial transactions done through during the first quarter of 2018 amounted to 2. 718 mln, compared to 1.153 mln in 2017, a rise of 135%.

The amount of payments since the service was launched late 2015 hit JD 6.068 bln to the end of April, 2018, the CBJ announced.

E-payments to government institutions accounted for the largest share, with a value of JD2.009 bln.
