National exports hits highest growth rate since 2014: minister

Mafraq, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Tariq Hammouri, Sunday said that Jordanian national exports have seen a 7.8 percent growth rate in the period between January-September 2019, compared with the corresponding period of 2018.

During a visit to the northern governorate of Mafraq to meet with representatives of the industrial and trade sectors, Hammouri underscored that the government attaches great importance to the trade sector and highlighted his meetings with the trade sector’s representatives and his visit to the chambers of commerce in different directorates to diagnose all impediments and challenges facing the sector, and listen firsthand to the grievances and demands of the traders.

The minister noted that the measures that had been taken by the government, including the amendment on the measurement and criteria bylaw and the unifying of auditing bodies on economic installations, had been prompted at the request of the private sector, especially to address demands raised by traders in ongoing meetings.
