Minister opens adventure tourism conference in Aqaba
Aqaba, Deputizing for His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussien bin Abdullah II, Minister of Culture and Youth Muhammad Abu Rumman on Tuesday opened the third conference of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
Abu Rumman underlined the importance of this type tourism in attracting investors and tourists and contributing to the national economy, pointing out the need to find legislation regulating adventure tourism to compete at the local and global levels.
He said that the conference highlights adventure tourism destinations in Jordan which is a key link connecting travel companies in the Near East region.
Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board, said that hosting the conference for the third time is a confirmation of the importance of the Kingdom on the world tourism map.
He added that the event provides an opportunity to highlight adventure tourism and its role in developing sustainable tourism in the Kingdom.
During the conference, attended by representatives of the American Travel and Tourism Association and a number of local and international media, Arabiyat added that adventure tourism is one of the fastest-growing tourism experiences in the world and in Jordan in particular, where several successes and developments have made Jordan an international tourist destination.
