Jordanian Chamber of Industry takes part in a food conference in Turkey
Amman, Chairman of the Jordanian Chamber of Industry (JCI), Adnan Abu Ragheb, participated in the Turkish-Arab Economic Cooperation Conference on Food and Agriculture recently held in Istanbul.
Abu Ragheb told the participants the food, agriculture and livestock sectors play a key role in ensuring food security, according to a JIC statement issued on Wednesday.
Abu Ragheb noted Jordan’s food and agricultural industries are reputed for the diversity and quality of their products, as well as adherence to int’l, relevant quality and safety standards.
This sector, he noted, has managed to meet the needs of the local market, and announced its exports amounted to about $740 million last year, an increase of 6.8% compared to 2016.
He stressed the importance of joint efforts to kick off Turkish investments in Jordan in the industries field as the investment law gives diverse incentives to foreign investors, along with the FTAs’ lucrative business privileges, which the Kingdom has already signed with several countries.
He pointed to the JCI’s readiness to cooperate with the Arab and Turkish counterparts to provide various facilities to achieve the summit’s goals and to promote joint Arab-Turkish cooperation in the field of food and agricultural industries.
