Jordan exports 1,000 tons of dangerous waste

Amman, Major industrial companies and liquid battery assembling companies export up to 1,000 tons of highly dangerous and recyclable waste, Coordinator at the Ministry of Environment, Raya Silwani, said.

She told “Petra” that the treatment of dangerous waste is deemed “highly important,” pointing out that there is a center specialized in treating highly dangerous waste working under the supervision of the ministry.

Silwani said that besides the exported waste, the center deals with somewhat between 3,000-5000 cubic meter of highly dangerous generative waste.

There are three installations to recycle liquid batteries in the Kingdom, she added.

She said that work is on foot to float bids to set up units to treat locally-made solid waste.
