Riyadh: The Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD) and the UNIDO Arab International Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship and Investment (AICEI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) stipulating collaboration to drive economic empowerment and social development in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries. ISFD Director General Dr. Hiba Ahmed and AICEI Board of Trustees Chairman Sheikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa signed the MoU on the sidelines of the IsDB Annual Meetings, held from April 27 to 30 in Riyadh. The MoU secures the commitment of both parties to work toward achieving sustainable development goals, with particular focus on economic empowerment of women and the youth. The agreement sets the framework for collaboration in several key areas, including developing strategies for women's economic empowerment and poverty alleviation, empowering women and youths through climate-smart agriculture and food security initiatives, and providing support for vulnerable groups and people with disabilities. The MoU also encourages the development of smart cities that contribute to promoting social entrepreneurship, facilitate the digital transformation of industry, health care, education and the economy, encourage innovation and teach life skills in educational institutions.
