Irbid Municipality Completes Over JD300K Rainwater Drainage Projects

Irbid: Irbid Greater Municipality completed rainwater drainage projects last year valued at over JD300,000, according to the municipality’s spokesperson, Gaith Tal. Tal told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that these projects have helped address most of the hot spots that caused inconvenience to residents and led to damages during the winter season.

According to Jordan News Agency, Tal noted that Irbid, being a large and sprawling city, cannot resolve all water accumulation issues at once, but pointed out that complaints regarding the rise in water levels on streets have decreased significantly over the past three years in the northern governorate. Tal further emphasized that municipal teams monitor water accumulation sites with the arrival of each weather front and address them through various methods, such as creating drainage lines, constructing manholes, or using hot asphalt mixes to adjust road levels that cause water pooling.

He explained that the work is done according to clear priorities, with the most affected areas receiving the greatest attention, followed by less affected areas gradually. Tal also revealed that the municipality’s budget for this year includes new water drainage projects valued at JD500,000, which will contribute to resolving most water accumulation issues in the city and have a positive impact on the residents.
