Group of MPs, senators to push for release of detained Canadians during trip to China

Ottawa, Canadian lawmakers will go ahead with a scheduled trip to China, media reports said.

Canadian MPs and Senators will begin their trip today.

The two countries are having a strenuous relationship since Chinese telecom company Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou was arrested in the Canadian city of Vancouver.

The Canadian government in a recent statement said that China had detained 13 of its citizens and added that eight of them have been now released.
