AIPU chief condemns Kirkuk terrorist attack in Iraq

Amman, Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) President and Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Tuesday condemned a terrorist attack carried out by the Daesh terror group at a sports stadium in northern Iraq.

At least six people were killed and about a dozen injured in the attack in the Daquq district of Kirkuk province.

In a statement, Tarawneh reiterated that Jordan stands alongside Iraq in countering Daesh and uprooting terrorism, calling for concerted local, regional and international efforts to combat terror groups.

He also expressed his deepest condolences over the victims of the attack and wished the injured speedy recovery.
