Agadir Technical Unit (ATU) signs deals with int’l organizations
The Agadir Technical Unit (ATU) signed a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international organizations on the sidelines of their participation in the meeting of the Joint Advisory Committee of the International Trade Center (ITC), held in Geneva recently.
The MoUs penned with the International Trade Center, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Training Institute, aim to foster the ATU’s integration efforts in line with regional policies, drawing on international expertise in areas of mutual interest.
According to a press release issued by the ATU on Wednesday, the signing of the MoUs eye to open up to foreign trade between the “Agadir” member states, to boost domestic and foreign investment, and to develop trade partnership with the European neighbors in the northern bank of the Mediterranean.
These agreements aim to launch contact channels with regional and int’l economic blocs, the unit’s chief Fakhri Hazaimeh commented on the event.
On the goals, he said the MoUs are a preliminary step to embark on cooperation with world organizations, to forge an action plan on fields of mutual interest to serve the “Agadir” members states, and to benefit from the int’l blocs’ technical support, he pointed out.
