Acting PM Meets with Director of UAE Space Agency

Amman, Acting Prime Minister Rajai Al-Muasher on Wednesday welcomed Director-General of the UAE Space Agency Mohammad Nasser Al-Ahbabi, who is the Kingdom to sign his country’s membership in the Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Western Asia headquartered at the Royal Geographical Center.

During the meeting, Al-Muasher and Al-Ahbabi held a wide-ranging discussion focusing on Jordan-UAE ties and ways of establishing closer cooperation in the astronomy and related space sciences.

Al-Muasher said prospects for cooperation in this domain exist between the UAE Space Agency and the Crown Prince Foundation, which launched the first Jordanian satellite for scientific and research purposes.

Al-Ahbabi said the UAE Space Agency is keen on cementing cooperation with Jordan in training in the fields of space science and technology, pointing out that five distinguished Jordanian talents are currently working in the UAE Space Agency.

The Emirates space program, sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to promote space science, noting that the UAE’s first astronaut will embark on a trip to space this year.
