GAM Organizes Change Day on World Patient Safety Day

Amman: The Department of Social Facilities and Programs at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) launched a Change Day initiative on Thursday, aligning with World Patient Safety Day, an event initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to Jordan News Agency, Director of the Department of Social Facilities and Programs, Rana Qatani, discussed GAM’s dedication to child support through the Amman Child-Friendly City project. The initiative engaged 200 local community members, focusing on health, social, and volunteer efforts. Qatani highlighted that since the beginning of 2025, 7,000 children have engaged in activities at various social centers in Amman. She emphasized the role of the Municipal Council’s children in conveying the needs of Amman’s youth to key decision-makers.

Reem Qasim, Head of the Family Counseling Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, addressed the mental health of children and the effects of video games and social media.

Ahmed Subaihi from Humanity and Inclusion underscored the importance of early detection in children’s health, advocating for timely intervention, diagnosis, and treatment.

The event concluded with a discussion led by GAM’s Executive Director of Social Affairs, Rana Jaghbeer, which addressed questions and concerns from the participants.
