Environment Ministry Clears 856,438 Heads of Livestock in 20 Days to Meet Hajj Season Demand

Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has cleared 856,438 heads of live livestock (sheep, cows, camels) through the plant and animal quarantine at the Jeddah Islamic Port and Al-Hadithah from 1 to 20 Dhul-Qi'dah 1445 AH. This is part of its preparations to meet the demand during this year's Hajj season. The ministry confirmed that the health controls and conditions for import are updated per the latest developments in the epidemiological situation in countries. This guarantees the safety of imported livestock, as the decision to clear the shipments or reject them is made based on the results of the virtual and laboratory examination of the imported livestock. The Kingdom imports livestock from over 30 countries, including Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, South Africa, Georgia, Romania, Spain, Colombia, Bulgaria, Australia, Brazil, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan.
