5,996 new virus cases, 91 fatalities recorded Tuesday
Amman, A total of 5,996 new coronavirus infections and 91 deaths were recorded across the Kingdom on Tuesday, bringing the caseload to 120,982 since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March, according to a daily update by the Ministry of Health.
With today’s record death toll, at 91, the total number of fatalities from the highly infectious respiratory disease has reached 1,386. The ministry added that 1,931 COVID-19 patients remained in hospitals, including 422 in intensive care.
It indicated that a total of 281 cases were admitted to hospitals today, while 216 were discharged after they fully recovered.
Breaking down today’s infections, the ministry said about half of the new cases were recorded in Amman with 2,987 infections, followed by Zarqa 1,062, Irbid 511, Balqa 274, Karak 266, Aqaba 253, Madaba 176, Tafileh 158, Ma’an 104, Jerash 80, Ajloun 67 and 58 in Mafraq.
With regard to testing, the ministry indicated that 27,324 tests were conducted today, 21.9 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March stood at 2,095,700.
