33 new Covid-19 cases, including 29 local infections, recorded on Sunday
The Ministry of Health announced that 33 new Covid-19 cases, including 29 local infections, were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the total caseload to 1609.
As for the 29 new infections, 26 cases were registered in the capital, Amman-21 contacted previously confirmed patients, and 5 cases under investigation), 1 in Madaba governorate, who has caught the disease from infected contacts, and 1 in Aqaba governorate involving an Arab worker (under investigation), according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, a 94-year-old woman, whose infection was discovered Saturday, has died in Al-Bashir Hospital.
In addition, 4 imported cases were recorded to arrivals from abroad who are staying in quarantine hotels-1 from Bahrain, 1 from Turkey, 1 from Saudi Arabia, and 1 from Bangladesh, added the joint statement.
52 patients have recovered, including 8 in Prince Hamzah Hospital, and 44 in the designated quarantine site in the Dead Sea, it added.
7827 Covid-19 tests were administered, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 745,100, the government statement pointed out.
Amid the increasing local infections, the Ministry called on the public to adhere to Defense Order No. (11), follow safety and prevention measures, and use the “Aman” and “Your Health” apps.
