10 arrested for “festive firing” after Tawjihi results announced

Security forces arrested 10 people who fired shots in the air and seized the firearms after the Ministry of Education announced the results of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) exams early Saturday, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).

The department’s official spokesman said that 83 people were also detained for other violations, 149 vehicles were impounded and 1,364 traffic tickets were issued for “wrongful festive expressions.”

“Since this morning, the PSD’s various units have begun enforcing the security plan for the exam results and curbing all violations and associated wrong behaviors, especially the phenomenon of festive firing and dangerous traffic offenses,” according to a PSD statement.
