Amman: His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, visited the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Jordan, advocating for Jordan’s positioning as a regional hub for health services.
According to Jordan News Agency, during his visit, Prince El Hassan emphasized the need for standardized models to monitor and evaluate health needs and achievements across the region. This approach aims to enhance Jordan’s role in regional health cooperation. He highlighted the importance of setting clear health goals and forming robust national partnerships to achieve a comprehensive health vision.
Prince El Hassan also advocated for the inclusion of mental health as a key component of healthcare efforts and called for regional collaboration to advance health initiatives. Addressing health emergency preparedness, he stressed the adoption of scientific methods and statistical tools to proactively manage risks and minimize impacts before crises occur.
The Prince underscored the importance of international and humanitarian organizations in mitigating the effects of conflicts and wars on affected populations.
Jamela Raiby, the WHO Representative in Jordan, stated that the WHO’s accomplishments in Jordan align with national health priorities and the Economic Modernization Vision. She outlined four key objectives for WHO’s work in Jordan: achieving universal health coverage, promoting public health awareness, strengthening emergency response capabilities, and enhancing data use for informed health policy-making.
