Amman: Labor Minister Nidal Qatamin has announced plans to expand the national job portal, Sajjil, to better serve persons with disabilities. Empowering and employing people with disabilities is a top priority for the ministry, Qatamin emphasized during a recent meeting attended by key stakeholders, including MP Dima Tahboub and officials from the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Social Security Corporation, and the Jordan Chamber of Industry.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry intends to directly link Sajjil with the database records of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD). This integration will enable job seekers with disabilities to enter their information, specify their disability types, and outline suitable job preferences. Consequently, private employers will be encouraged to post vacancies specifically tailored to meet the needs of these job seekers.
Qatamin called for the establishment of a unified database among key partners to streamline efforts. He directed ministry staff to utilize the HCD registry data for tailored training, skill development, and job placement. Additionally, he instructed labor inspectors to rigorously enforce statutory hiring quotas for disabled workers across the private sector.
