New Measures Implemented to Expedite Audit Bureau Responses, Says Minister

Amman: Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdul Latif Najdawi announced on Wednesday that a team focused on reviewing observations from the Audit Bureau has adopted new strategies to accelerate responses to audit findings.

According to Jordan News Agency, Najdawi stated that, following directives from Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, the team will conduct regular reviews, increase response rates to audit observations, and integrate follow-up actions with public sector modernization efforts. These measures aim to sustain and enhance operational procedures by assigning a dedicated follow-up team to ministries and institutions, which is expected to reduce violations across entities under the Audit Bureau's oversight.

During a meeting on Wednesday at the Prime Ministry, the team reviewed 33 inquiries recorded in November and December against 22 institutions and entities. Najdawi confirmed that all necessary actions have been taken to address the issues and recover improperly disbursed funds, with no cases requiring referral to the Public Prosecution or the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Some observations involved unauthorized recruitment and employment of foreign workers, payment of bonuses and allowances to project employees who did not meet attendance requirements, delays in collecting funds owed to the treasury, and irregularities in certain tenders. Najdawi also highlighted violations in appointing faculty members at universities and the unjustified disbursement of bonuses and allowances to municipal employees.
