Jordan records 16 COVID-19 fatalities, 809 new cases on Sunday-MoH

The Ministry of Health announced 16 Covid-19 fatalities and 809 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 9, 259 and the caseload to 724, 154.

The new infections comprised 276 cases in the capital, Amman, 163 in Irbid, including 9 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 75 in Zarqa, 64 in Ma’an , including 14 in Petra region, 42 in Ajloun, 41 in Balqa, 36 in Mafraq, 30 Karak, 23 in Aqaba, 22 in Jerash, 21 in Tafielh, and 16 in Madab, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The statement added that there are currently 11, 253 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.

The number of hospitalizations today stood at 77, while 74 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 1,272, bringing the total to 703,642 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 714.

The statement also indicated that occupancy of the ICU bed capacity has hit 27%, 28%, and 12%, in the northern, central, and southern regions, respectively.

With regard to testing, 19,177 tests were conducted Sunday, 4.22 percent of which were positive.

Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,940,992, the joint statement noted.
