Jordan, UK talk ending escalation in Palestinian territories

Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Dominic Raab Monday discussed over the phone the international efforts to end the flare-up in the Palestinian territories.

Safadi, who is also the deputy prime minister, emphasized that the only way to ending the episode of violence in the Palestinian territories would be by ending the Israeli aggression against Gaza and provocations in the occupied West Bank.

Safadi and Raab agreed to ramp up efforts aimed at ending the escalation and finding a political solution that would bring about peace, which is only achievable by settling the decades-long conflict as per the two-state solution, Safadi highlighted.

Safadi warned Israel against following through with its illegal conduct and the danger of the stalemate in the peace talks, saying this could impact regional stability.

The top diplomats agreed to continue coordination to end the current escalation.
