Iraq, Denmark Foreign Ministers Discuss Ways to Prevent Recurrence of Acts Offensive to Islam

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed, in a telephone call on Wednesday, with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen preventing the recurrence of acts offensive to Islam and the Holy Quran in his country.

Hussein expressed, during the call, his country’s strong condemnation and denunciation of this heinous act, which represents a grave insult to religious sanctities and inflames the feelings of Muslims around the world, pointing out that burning a copy of the Holy Quran does not come within the context of freedom of expression, but rather comes to incite violence and sow hatred.

In turn, the Danish Foreign Minister expressed, according to a statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, his country’s condemnation of this act, stressing that the Copenhagen government strongly rejects such anti-Islamic actions, and in no way support or condone the anti-Islam views expressed by the concerned person during this incident, reiterating the Danish government’s commitment to protecting the Iraqi embassy on its territory.
