Amman: Chairman of Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Captain Deifallah Farajat announced air traffic statistics in the Kingdom from the beginning of the year through end of May.
According to Jordan News Agency, Farajat revealed that Jordanian airspace and airports handled a total of 29,096 aircraft movements, which included 14,159 inbound and 14,937 outbound flights. This activity reflects the operational status of Jordan's air navigation system and ground services.
Farajat also highlighted that air traffic has shown growth, with 42,273 aircraft traversing Jordanian airspace in the initial five months of the year. This increase is attributed to Jordan's strategic position as a key gateway for regional and international air navigation, bolstered by the completion of recent air navigation projects.
He mentioned that the latest initiative, aimed at upgrading all air navigation procedures in Jordanian airspace, was launched during the Kingdom's 80th Independence Day celebrations. This effort underscores CARC's commitment to maintaining air safety and security standards and enhancing air navigation infrastructure.
Farajat acknowledged the collaborative efforts of CARC's personnel and Jordanian airports in ensuring the seamless and safe flow of air traffic. He also noted that 25 airlines have resumed regular flights to and from Jordan, with expectations for additional European airlines, especially low-cost carriers, to return soon.
