Crown Prince and Slovenia PM Aim to Elevate Jordan-Slovenia Relations to Strategic Partnership

Ljubljana: Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Slovenia Prime Minister Robert Golob met in Ljubljana to discuss advancing cooperation between Jordan and Slovenia. The meeting focused on elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Crown Prince highlighted the significance of the memorandum of understanding signed between the governments of Jordan and Slovenia on digital transformation. He stressed the necessity to expand cooperation across various sectors. The Crown Prince also emphasized Slovenia’s role in supporting Middle East peace efforts, particularly as Slovenia prepares to assume the presidency of the Security Council in December.

Regarding the situation in Gaza, both leaders underscored the importance of adhering to the ceasefire and ensuring the full implementation of the agreement to end the conflict. They acknowledged the crucial contributions of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Trkiye in facilitating the agreement. The leaders also agreed on the importance of continuing to strengthen the humanitarian response in Gaza.

The discussion also addressed the situation in Syria, emphasizing the need to maintain its unity, security, and territorial integrity. Prime Minister Golob expressed alignment with Jordan’s viewpoint on supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, under the two-state solution framework.

Prime Minister Golob also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace in the West Bank and recognized the Hashemite Custodianship’s role in protecting Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia Mohammad Hindawi.
