Amman: Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, checked on the progress of the Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on Saturday evening by boarding a bus in both directions to inspect the quality of services provided to citizens.
According to Jordan News Agency, a ministry statement on Sunday revealed that Qatamin’s visit aimed to directly assess the current service situation, gather citizens’ feedback, and identify areas for development and improvement. This initiative aligns with the citizens’ aspirations for an “efficient, safe, and comfortable inter-city public transportation” system.
During the tour, Qatamin directed the expansion of e-payment services and emphasized the simplification of their use to benefit all segments of society. He also instructed measures to enhance comfort levels on buses, while ensuring constant monitoring of cleanliness and the quality of facilities.
Qatamin further called for improvements in the safety system by developing monitoring systems and enhancing the commuting environment on buses. He highlighted that transport and logistics sector projects are progressing within the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision, which aims to improve citizens’ quality of life.
The ministry is committed to developing the public inter-governorate transport system according to the highest standards of efficiency, quality, and safety, he noted. Qatamin emphasized the success of the first phase of the regular inter-governorate transport project, which has contributed to providing services similar to the BRT network.
Looking ahead, Qatamin mentioned that the project’s second phase will include additional governorates as part of the ministry’s plan to expand coverage. The goal is to achieve “effective connectivity between Jordan’s regions, reduce travel time, and enhance reliance on public transport services.”
