Jordan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Joint Communiqu©

Samarkand: The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Uzbekistan issued a joint communiqu© at the conclusion of talks between King Abdullah II and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand. The communiqu© highlights a commitment to bolster ties in various sectors and addresses pressing international concerns.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions between the two leaders were held in a spirit of mutual trust and friendship. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international matters of mutual interest. Both leaders expressed their commitment to deepening ties in political, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian arenas, promising mutual benefits for both nations.

The communiqu© outlined a strategic plan to intensify cooperation in key sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, sustainable energy, and modern technologies. Additionally, the leaders emphasized the importance of convening the first Uzbekistan-Jordan Business Forum and activating the Uzbek-Jordanian Business Council to foster direct engagement between business communities.

Tourism emerged as a significant focus, with both countries recognizing their potential as unique cultural and historical destinations. The leaders agreed on initiatives to boost tourist exchanges, promote joint tourism programs, and encourage investments to enhance connectivity.

Education, youth, sports, and cultural exchange programs were identified as critical areas for cooperation, aiming to strengthen friendship and understanding between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Jordan. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, covering various aspects such as investment protection, higher education, tourism, and customs cooperation.

The communiqu© also addressed pressing international issues, notably calling for an immediate halt to the conflict in Gaza and emphasizing the need for increased humanitarian support. The leaders reiterated support for the two-state solution based on the 1967 lines and urged respect for the historical and legal status quo at holy sites in Jerusalem.

President Mirziyoyev praised Jordan’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza and expressed readiness to cooperate in providing assistance. King Abdullah II acknowledged Uzbekistan’s support for the two-state solution and valued its humanitarian contributions.

The joint statement concluded with both leaders emphasizing their commitment to continued collaboration within international organizations to promote peace, security, and sustainable development.
