Jordan’s E-Billing System Revolutionizes Financial Transactions with 1.2 Million Daily Invoices

Amman: Jordan’s Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) has achieved a significant milestone with its National Electronic Invoicing System, which is currently issuing 1.2 million invoices daily. Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, the Director General of the ISTD, highlighted this advancement as a critical reform in the country’s financial and economic policies.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Abu Ali emphasized the necessity of this system to control and regulate the economy, enhance tax justice, and ensure transparency in financial transactions. The system’s implementation has seen over 140,000 taxpayers register, demonstrating the private sector’s recognition of its importance.

During a recent dialogue session, Dr. Abu Ali shared that the ISTD’s website now enables users to inquire about all registered taxpayers. The e-billing system’s efficiency is underscored by its capability to issue invoices rapidly, with each transaction taking only half a second on average. This efficiency is a testament to the robust infrastructure and the competence of the system’s staff.

The e-billing system integrates high-level security and information protection, in line with global standards, and was successfully piloted before its official launch. Dr. Abu Ali assured that the system is user-friendly and compatible with various accounting systems without necessitating changes.

In addition to the e-billing advancements, the ISTD has transitioned to a fully digital department, offering over 65 e-services to taxpayers. The incorporation of artificial intelligence in tax auditing has further enhanced audit efficiency and successfully identified cases of tax evasion.
