Petra and South Africa Explore Tourism Collaboration

Petra: The Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Fares Braizat, engaged in discussions with South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Thandi Moraka, and Ambassador Tselane Mokuena to explore avenues for enhancing tourism cooperation between Jordan and South Africa.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting placed particular emphasis on adventure tourism, an area experiencing increasing global interest. Petra’s distinctive natural and geographical features make it an attractive destination for adventure tourism. Braizat underscored the significance of bolstering tourism connections between Jordan and South Africa to enable the exchange of expertise and the development of joint tourism products. He emphasized that PDTRA seeks to broaden Petra’s tourism offerings to satisfy the diverse expectations of its visitors.

Moraka conveyed South Africa’s enthusiasm for expanding tourism collaboration with Jordan, particularly in the realm of adventure tourism. She expressed interest in drawing on Jordan’s experience in managing archaeological and tourist sites to enhance South Africa’s own tourism strategies.
