First Independent Compressed Natural Gas Station to be Unveiled Wednesday

Amman: The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is set to inaugurate the first independent compressed natural gas (CNG) station operated by the National Advanced Natural Gas Company, also known as Watani, on Wednesday. Watani is a partnership between Jopetrol and the Jordan Liquefied Gas Company, and the station will specialize in filling CNG for buses, trucks, and other vehicles using gas produced from the Risha field.

According to Jordan News Agency, the station is the first of its kind in Jordan and represents a significant step toward incorporating domestically produced natural gas into the market. This initiative aims to strengthen the reliance on national energy sources.

A statement from the ministry issued on Sunday highlighted ongoing efforts to expand the use of natural gas and to foster a locally attractive investment market in alignment with the Economic Modernization Vision and energy diversification plans.

National efforts are also concentrated on increasing production from the Risha field to support local communities and enhance the Kingdom’s energy security.

The Jordan Liquefied Gas Company is pioneering the establishment of a facility dedicated to processing Risha gas, produced by the National Petroleum Company, for distribution to economic sectors across the nation.
