Senate Committee, Dutch Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Ties

Amman: The Jordanian-Dutch Friendship Committee in the Senate, led by Senator Khaled Kalaldeh, convened with Dutch Ambassador to Jordan Harry Verweij to deliberate on enhancing relations between Jordan and the Netherlands in various sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, Kalaldeh emphasized the robust Jordanian-Dutch ties, which he attributed to the longstanding efforts of both countries’ leaderships. He noted that these ties are particularly strong in economic, parliamentary, legal, and water-related sectors and stressed the importance of broadening cooperation in all fields.

Kalaldeh also highlighted the alignment of Jordan and the Netherlands on several international issues, especially the Palestinian cause, with both countries advocating a two-state solution. He remarked that His Majesty King Abdullah II consistently supports this stance in international forums, calling for a just and comprehensive peace to ensure regional security and resolve conflict.

Ambassador Verweij acknowledged the depth of the partnership and reiterated the Netherlands’ ongoing support for Jordan, particularly in the water and economic sectors. He pointed to the Dutch grant for the National Water Carrier Project as a significant example of this cooperation.

The ambassador also emphasized the Netherlands’ efforts in assisting refugees and host communities, along with their support for youth empowerment programs designed to create future opportunities. He further praised the military cooperation between Jordan and the Netherlands and their joint humanitarian initiatives to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.

Committee members expressed their appreciation for the Netherlands’ role in supporting Jordan and underscored the importance of expanding collaboration to foster mutual interests and promote shared development.
