Jordanian Consumer Confidence Rises Amid Economic Optimism

Amman:A recent Ipsos survey indicates that 64% of Jordanians believe the country is heading in the right direction. The national poll, released Friday, also shows an increase in Jordan's overall consumer confidence index, which climbed to 42.6 points in the third quarter of 2026. This marks a 1.1-point rise from the previous quarter and a notable gain from 36.0 points in the same period last year.

According to Jordan News Agency, the positive trend is largely attributed to improving macroeconomic expectations, with the local economic outlook sub-index increasing by 8.6 points quarter-on-quarter to 58.5 out of 100 points. Half of the surveyed individuals expressed optimism about the national economy's improvement over the next six months, while 37% expect stability, and 13% foresee a downturn.

The survey also highlighted varying trends across financial sub-indices. Confidence in general job security saw an increase of 5.2 points, reaching 50.3 points. In contrast, personal financial confidence decreased by 3.1 points to 30.2 points, reflecting ongoing household concerns about budgetary pressures.

Despite the overall positive sentiment, unemployment and inflation remain the leading consumer concerns. Unemployment and job availability were identified as primary worries by 56% of respondents, followed closely by inflation and the cost of living at 54%.

Conducted throughout September, the Q3 2026 survey utilized computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) and included a representative sample of 1,000 adult participants aged 18 and above from across the Kingdom.
