Amman: Jordan, Trkiye, and Syria have come together for trilateral discussions aimed at supporting Syrian reconstruction and fostering regional stability. The talks also addressed escalating tensions and ongoing issues in the region, with a particular focus on the recent actions of Israel.
According to Jordan News Agency, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi condemned Israel’s military actions in Syria, accusing the Israeli government of undermining stability in the region. Safadi criticized Israel for its aggressive tactics, including bombing presidential sites and occupying territories, which he argued are detrimental to Syria’s efforts toward reconstruction and peace. He emphasized the importance of regional security and welcomed Trkiye’s decision to disband the PKK as a positive step toward broader peace.
Safadi further stressed the commitment of Arab and Islamic states to achieving just peace and called on the international community to address the root causes of conflict, many of which he attributed to Israeli aggression in Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine. He underscored the necessity of peace in the region for global security and urged international cooperation to hold Israel accountable and invest in a secure future for all regional populations.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the ongoing support of Jordan and Syria for Syrian stability. Fidan highlighted the need to end Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and discussed the trilateral meeting’s focus on counterterrorism, border security, and the fight against ISIS. The meeting also addressed the lifting of sanctions on Syria and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza resulting from Israeli actions.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Shibani reiterated Syria’s commitment to enhancing military and security coordination with Trkiye and Jordan, describing the partnership as essential for countering cross-border threats and fostering regional trust. Al-Shibani announced plans to hold a governmental summit in Damascus and called for the reevaluation of sanctions on Syria to facilitate the return of displaced Syrians.
Al-Shibani highlighted the returning Syrian professionals aiding reconstruction efforts and called for lifting what he termed “unjust sanctions” to allow for their safe return. He expressed optimism that, with the support of neighboring countries, a new Middle East founded on dignity, sovereignty, and sustainable peace could be realized.
