Amman: Muhannad Shehadeh, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, and Abdelhakim Shibli, Minister of Finance, accompanied by Director General of the Jordan Customs Department (JCD), Brigadier General Ahmad Akalik, inspected the new Amman Customs Center (Al-Madounah) on Monday. The visit focused on reviewing customs procedures and emphasizing the need to facilitate trade exchange processes to enhance the investment environment, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministers prioritized the completion of customs procedures related to Ramadan goods and Eid al-Fitr supplies, urging for their clearance to be expedited. They highlighted the importance of providing necessary facilitations for all goods to save time and effort, in accordance with customs legislation.
Shehadeh and Shibli also participated in the JCD’s celebration of International Customs Day, observed annually on January 26. During the celebration, Brigadier General Akalik remarked on Jordan’s deep-rooted institutional framework across government sectors, underscoring the JCD’s role in enhancing the investment environment and maintaining economic and security aspects. He noted the strength and resilience of the Jordanian economy, supported by robust indicators and the leadership of the Hashemite kingdom.
The event featured a film about the Jordan Customs Department and an awards ceremony where certificates from the World Customs Organization (WCO) were presented to deserving partners from the private sector and the JCD.
