Amman: Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative in Jordan, Himyar Abdulmoghni, have signed a cooperation agreement to bolster the ministry’s social service offices specializing in family and juvenile protection management.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement is set to enhance 19 social service offices across the kingdom dedicated to handling domestic violence cases. During the signing ceremony, attended by UNFPA Programs Coordinator Tsovinar Harutyunyan, Bani Mustafa highlighted the significance of the partnership in advancing joint programs aimed at structuring case management. This approach is intended to categorize domestic violence cases to ensure the best interests of individuals are met.
Bani Mustafa also stressed the importance of training social workers to improve their theoretical and practical skills, aiming for substantial achievements within the agreement’s timeframe. Abdulmoghni praised the Ministry of Social Development’s efforts, noting their alignment with UNFPA’s goals and programs.
He detailed the UNFPA’s three key focus areas: policy development, institutional capacity-building, and awareness programs related to domestic violence.
