49 rumors recorded last June-Akeed

Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor (Akeed) recorded 49 rumors that were circulated during last June 2023, on local media outlets and social platforms. In its monthly report, which was released on Sunday, Akeed said 49 rumors were observed during last June, marking a drop of 3 fake news, compared to 52 rumors that were recorded during last May. Out of the total number, rumors related to economic sector ranked first in June, recording 25 fake news, with a rate of 51%, meanwhile 10 rumors were registered for security and public affairs, respectively, occupying the second place, with a 20.5% rate, Akeed said. Jordan's health sector ranked 3rd slot with 3 rumors, at a 6% rate, then came political issues with 1 fake news at a 2% rate, while the social-related matters did not see any rumors, the monitor said. Akeed also said 48 rumors originated from internal sources, whether social platforms or news sites, during last June at a 98% rate, while 1 fake news came from an external source, at a 2% rate. The monitor noted 41 rumors, or 84%, originated from social platforms, while media outlets promoted 8 fake news by 16%.
