Amman: Weather conditions on Friday are expected to be mild across most regions of Jordan, while relatively warm weather will prevail in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Gradually during the evening hours, the Kingdom will be affected by a state of atmospheric instability, with chances of light rain showers in scattered areas. Winds will be southwesterly and moderate, occasionally becoming active particularly in desert regions causing dust to rise.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) warned of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas late at night in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom. It also cautioned about reduced horizontal visibility due to dust in many areas, especially in desert regions, as well as the possibility of thunderstorms and hail. The department urged people with respiratory conditions to take necessary precautions and advised motorists to be cautious of slippery roads during rainfall.

re expected to persist on Saturday, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and intermittent rain showers in different parts of the Kingdom. Rainfall may become heavy at times in the northern and central regions, accompanied by thunder and hail. Winds will be active, shifting from southeasterly to southwesterly, and may raise dust, particularly in desert areas.

On Sunday, the Kingdom is forecast to be affected by a relatively cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system. Temperatures will drop noticeably, and skies will be partly cloudy. Rain is expected during the early morning hours at intervals in northern and central regions, as well as limited parts of the southwestern and northeastern areas. Westerly winds will be active, with occasional strong gusts.

By Monday, conditions will turn cold in the high mountainous areas and relatively cold in the desert and plains, while remaining relatively warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Low clouds are expected to appear over northern an
d central regions, and light rain showers may fall during the early morning hours in parts of the north and central areas. Winds will be westerly and moderate, occasionally becoming active.

Temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 18 degrees Celsius and a low of 8 degrees. Highs in the port city of Aqaba will reach 29 degrees during the day, sliding to 18 degrees at night.

Amman: The chairperson of the board of Jordan Post Company, Sami Al-Daoud, announced that the launch of the digital postal box project aligns with the Royal directives, the Kingdom’s Economic Modernization Vision, and the company’s plans to keep pace with technological development and digital transformation.

According to Jordan News Agency, a statement issued by the company on Friday detailed that Al-Daoud emphasized the project’s role in supporting the development of an integrated and sustainable digital economy. The initiative aims to enhance postal and logistics services, improve parcel delivery operations, and boost e-commerce activities across the Kingdom.

Al-Daoud further explained that the national project, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Jordan Post Company, and the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre, marks a strategic step toward creating a comprehensive national database for digital postal addresses. The project will also contribute to building advanced and secure digital infrastructure to support government services and the digital economy, thereby improving service quality, efficiency, and speed for citizens.

Hanadi Al-Tayyeb, Director General of Jordan Post Company, highlighted that the project will enable every citizen to obtain a free digital postal box, serving as a verified personal mailing address linked to their home’s geographic location based on the postal code system approved by the Universal Postal Union.

Al-Tayyeb elaborated that citizens will be able to use the digital address for postal correspondence, parcel reception, and access to various government services, in addition to facilitating e-commerce and delivery services nationwide. The service will soon be integrated into the SANAD App, allowing citizens to easily manage their digital postal addresses, enhancing the efficiency of services related to vital documents, passports, medications, and other government services.

She further stated that the digital postal box project is part of national efforts to advance digital transformation and develop the Kingdom’s postal addressing infrastructure by providing a unified and officially recognized digital address for various government and logistics transactions. The system is anticipated to encourage online shopping and open new global markets, with the digital postal box number becoming a key element in purchasing processes.

Amman: The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) reported that weather radar images indicate the presence of rain cells of varying intensity across several areas of the Kingdom.

According to Jordan News Agency, the most significant rainfall activity is concentrated in the eastern and southern regions, where convective thunderclouds associated with a state of atmospheric instability currently affecting the country are developing. These conditions are bringing scattered showers that may become heavy at times in limited areas, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and occasional strong wind gusts.

The JMD added that radar images also show scattered rain clouds extending over parts of the central and northern regions, although precipitation in these areas is expected to be less intense compared to other parts of the Kingdom.

The department explained that radar reflections indicate these rain cells are localized and intermittent in nature, gradually moving toward the east and northeast, which could lead to sporadic rainfall at intervals in different locations.

Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced a medium state of emergency starting Friday evening to deal with the weather depression affecting the Kingdom. GAM spokesperson Nasser Al-Rahamneh said the municipality’s field teams are fully prepared to respond to any reports received by the Tlaa Al-Ali Emergency Operations Room, stressing that response crews are on standby across the city.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Rahamneh urged residents to report any observations or emergencies through the unified contact center numbers 102 and 117180. He also called on citizens to exercise caution by staying away from valleys and low-lying areas, warning that such locations could be exposed to flooding during unstable weather conditions. Residents were also urged not to dispose of waste randomly, as it may block rainwater drainage systems.

In addition, Al-Rahamneh advised residents and business owners to check submersible pumps in basements and shops located below street level. Shop owners were also encouraged to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basement floors to prevent potential damage.

The spokesperson further called on contractors and construction project owners to secure building materials at worksites to prevent them from being washed away and blocking storm water drainage lines.
