ASE Closes Lower by 0.30% with JD6M in Turnover

Amman: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Monday’s trading session down by 0.30 percent, closing at 2,515 points. Trading volume reached approximately 2.7 million shares, with a total turnover of around JD6 million executed through 1,815 transactions.

According to Jordan News Agency, market data revealed that the share prices of 30 companies declined, while 17 companies recorded gains. Additionally, the prices of 34 other listed firms remained unchanged.

Civil Defense Responds to Over 1,500 Incidents in 24 Hours

Amman: The Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) responded to 1,567 emergencies across the Kingdom in the past 24 hours, including emergency medical cases, rescue operations, and firefighting incidents, with an average response time of under eight minutes.

According to Jordan News Agency, the directorate managed 1,411 emergency medical cases with an average response time of 7 minutes and 36 seconds. Rescue teams attended to 95 incidents with an average time of 7 minutes and 34 seconds, while firefighting teams addressed 61 fires with an average response time of 7 minutes and 33 seconds.

The CDD reaffirmed its high level of preparedness and its commitment to providing effective emergency services around the clock. It also urged the public to adhere to safety guidelines and cooperate with its personnel in all situations to help safeguard lives and property.

Death Toll in Gaza Rises to 51,240 Amid Continued Israeli Escalation

Gaza Strip: The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported that 39 fatalities and 62 injuries were recorded in the past 24 hours due to ongoing Israeli attacks.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry stated in its daily update that several victims remain trapped under rubble and on roadways, inaccessible to ambulance and civil defense crews due to continued hostilities and unsafe conditions.

The cumulative death toll since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, has reached 51,240, while the number of injured has climbed to 116,931, the Ministry reported.

Since March 18, when hostilities resumed after a ceasefire deal, 1,864 people have been killed and 4,890 wounded, the Ministry added.

Mobile Children’s Museum Brings Interactive Learning to Petra

Petra: A mobile children’s museum kicked off its activities in Petra on Sunday, in an event organized by the Petra Youth Directorate in collaboration with the Children’s Museum Jordan. The program will run through Monday, April 28, and is aimed at children aged 5 to 12.

According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative is part of the museum’s national outreach efforts to bring interactive educational experiences to various governorates across the Kingdom. It features an integrated program that blends education with entertainment, designed to enhance children’s cognitive and sensory development in an environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and creativity.

Petra Youth Director Fadi Fadoul highlighted the program’s role as a model of non-traditional education, emphasizing its contribution to fostering creativity and constructive engagement among children. He noted that the program includes a range of interactive activities focused on learning through play and hands-on experiences.

The museum activities are held daily in two sessions: from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for school groups, and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for families.

Jordanian Field Hospital in Southern Gaza Begins Operations, Offers Specialized Services

Gaza City: The Jordanian Field Hospital in southern Gaza 6 commenced operations on Monday, providing medical, therapeutic, and humanitarian services to patients and visitors amid the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, the hospital’s commander stated that the facility reflects the directives and humanitarian vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, who remains steadfast in his support for the people of Gaza during the war. He noted that the hospital began receiving patients with various medical conditions early Monday morning.

The hospital director highlighted that the medical and nursing teams, along with supporting health professionals, are actively receiving and following up on patients’ cases. He pointed out that the hospital is equipped with a wide range of specialized clinics, including general surgery, vascular surgery, neurology, plastic surgery and burns, orthopedics, pediatrics, maxillofacial surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, neonatal care, anesthesia and resuscitation. The hospital also includes the mobile amputee support unit “Restoring Hope.”

Patients and their families expressed deep appreciation for His Majesty King Abdullah II’s principled stance in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause, voicing their pride in the Jordan Armed Forces and the continued delivery of vital medical and humanitarian services.

VTC and Leaders International Forge Partnership to Enhance Youth Training

Amman: Leaders International for Economic Development has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) to implement a series of technical training courses across the governorates of Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, and Mafraq.

According to Jordan News Agency, the partnership is part of the Skills4Work project, funded by the European Regional Development and Protection Program (RDPP) for Jordan and Lebanon. The RDPP is a collaborative European initiative supported by Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the European Union, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

VTC Director General Ahmad Gharaibeh stated that the agreement aligns with the Corporation’s efforts to expand partnerships with civil society organizations and the private sector to develop training programs tailored to labor market demands. These programs are designed to benefit young job seekers and marginalized groups in various regions.

Gharaibeh described the partnership with Leaders International as a strategic step to empower youth economically and socially by offering vocational and technical training, capacity building, and sustainable employment opportunities. He reiterated the VTC’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its training institutes and their role in local development.

The Skills4Work project targets a diverse group of young people, primarily Jordanians (64 percent) and Syrians (34 percent), focusing on individuals under the age of 35 with a significant representation of women.

Under the agreement, Leaders International will support vocational training centers by implementing specialized programs in capacity building, knowledge exchange, and improved networking with the private sector, aiming to strengthen institutional performance and deepen integration with the local labor market.

Hamza Shamaileh, General Manager of Leaders International in Jordan, stated that the foundation is committed to transforming vocational centers into platforms for change, equipping youth with the tools needed to succeed in a competitive labor market.
