WDAC Website and Digital Library Launched to Boost Jordan’s Water Sector

Amman: Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Soud, together with the German Ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Bertram von Moltke, inaugurated the website and digital library of the ministry’s Water Documentation and Awareness Centre (WDAC) during the 7th Arab Water Week conference.

According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Soud emphasized the significance of the website and digital library as pivotal achievements in promoting awareness about sustainable water management. He highlighted the role of these platforms in supporting the comprehensive digital transformation of Jordan’s water sector.

The minister expressed appreciation for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) for its support in enhancing the Kingdom’s water sector. He noted that the website and digital library, implemented by GIZ in collaboration with the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), mark essential milestones in the robust bilateral cooperation and partnership in the water sector.

The German Ambassador underscored the importance of the enduring bilateral partnership, reaffirming Germany’s commitment to assisting its partners in Jordan in overcoming water sector challenges. The envoy remarked that the digital library and website signify substantial progress for the center, which was inaugurated at the end of 2023 with support from GIZ and BGR projects.

Both platforms, available in Arabic and English, are designed to complement each other. The digital library offers an extensive range of studies on the water sector, while the website serves as a central knowledge base, providing a flexible and user-friendly solution for researchers, scholars, water experts, partners, and decision-makers.
