King Abdullah II Engages Texas Companies to Boost Jordan’s Economy

Austin: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with representatives of government organizations and numerous Texas-based companies to explore potential investment opportunities in Jordan and to strengthen economic ties across key sectors. The meeting, which took place on Thursday, was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II and included high-level discussions with CEOs and representatives from industries such as energy, defense, technology, and semiconductor manufacturing.

According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II emphasized Jordan’s intent to deepen its strategic partnership with the United States, focusing on expanding economic cooperation in prioritized areas to benefit both nations. He underscored Jordan’s economic growth and highlighted the country’s focus on investment in high-value sectors like green hydrogen, renewable energy, and digital services, as outlined in the Economic Modernisation Vision.

The King outlined Jordan’s advantages as a favorable investment destination, citing low manufacturing costs, supportive legislation, a skilled workforce, and comprehensive free trade agreements that facilitate access to global markets. He also pointed to Jordan’s prudent fiscal policies and developed infrastructure as factors enhancing the nation’s economic competitiveness and attractiveness to global technology companies.

King Abdullah II further identified lucrative opportunities within Jordan for investment in mega infrastructure projects, healthcare, tourism, and education sectors. The meeting saw participation from prominent companies including Chevron Phillips Chemical, Eco Power Crypto, Cirrus Logic, Exela Technologies, and Raytheon Technologies, among others.

Also in attendance were Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson. Prior to the meeting, King Abdullah II held discussions with Texas Governor Greg Abbott to explore avenues for further cooperation.
